Abstract
The article deals with three issues: first, there is the question concerning the statistical data on the extend of student drop-out in the different types of higher education institutions. This task is linked to problems cocerning the definition and measurement of drop-out from higher education. Secondly, the research aims at clarifying the individual, institutional and social causes and reasons. Closely linked to this is the third question that focuses on above-average drop-out dangers within specific at-risk groups.
