Rejection and mutation of discourses in curriculum reforms: peace education(s) in Colombia and Germany.

Pineda, P., & Celis, J. (2021).
Rejection and mutation of discourses in curriculum reforms: peace education(s) in Colombia and Germany. Journal of Curriculum Studies, 1-23.
Abstract

Through content analysis of policy documents, we seek to find out why the Colombian Congress established peace education (PE) as mandatory content across all educational levels in 2014 in a postwar phase, while the German Standing Conference of Ministers of Education rejected attempts to implement PE since the Cold War. Whereas the German school curriculum has maintained a strong disciplinary structure that leads to the rejection of the local version of PE developed in the Federal Republic of Germany, either as military indoctrination or critical pedagogy, Colombia’s curriculum based on classical education is now influenced by educational bstandards and citizenship education—both influences from the United States.

Mobile and Immobile Students’ Characteristics and Programme Choices. In Cairns, D. (Hrsg.), The Palgrave Handbook of Youth Mobility and Educational Migration (S. 247-259). Basingstoke: Palgrave Macmillan. https://doi.org/10.1007/978-3-030-64235-8
Abstract

Numerous benefits have been associated with study-related experiences abroad such as employability, wage gains, and soft-skills. Thus, the topic of international student mobility is closely connected to issues of equity and access to higher education. This chapter places special emphasis on differences in mobility rates by gender, field of study, and type of higher education institution. Eurostudent data is used to analyse credit-seeking enrolment and it is distinguished between mobility organised in the realm of programmes and independently organised short-term mobility phases. The mobility patterns of students in Eurostudent countries are quite varied with regard to the extent and types of mobility undertaken.

What Synthetic Biology Aims At: Review Articles as Sites for Constructing and Narrating an Emerging Field.

What Synthetic Biology Aims At: Review Articles as Sites for Constructing and Narrating an Emerging Field. In K. Kastenhofer & S. Molyneux-Hodgson (Hrsg.), Community and Identity in Contemporary Technosciences (S. 65-84). Cham: Springer Nature (online first).
Abstract

The analysis of scientific communities and collectives are central to STS and the sociology of science. Reviewing practices, that is, practices of ordering, defining or delineating scientific fields can be understood as an often neglected, yet prevailing textual practice of community building, particularly in novel and emerging research fields, such as synthetic biology. In this article, I aim to explore the structure and content of review articles as a dedicated scholarly genre in synthetic biology, focusing on the period between 2002 and 2012.

Abstract

The Social Survey is a series of surveys on the economic and social situation of students in Germany that has been in existence since 1951. At three- to four-year intervals, a cross-section of students is surveyed on aspects of university access, structural features of study, social and economic situation, including income and cost of living, employment, housing situation, and socio-demographic characteristics such as ethnic and social origin, partnership status and parenthood. The data package includes data from the core set of the 17th to 21st Social Survey (2003 - 2016). The five individual scientific use files available at the FDZ-DZHW [...] Full abstract: https://doi.org/10.21249/DZHW:ssypool:1.0.0
