Janina Kopp completed an interdisciplinary bachelor's and master's degree in "Ecotrophology" (Nutrition Science combined with Economics) at the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel (B.Sc., M.Sc.) before graduating in the master's program of "Science Studies" at the Humboldt-University of Berlin (M.A.). Parallel to her studies, she worked for the project management agency VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH in the field of Education, Science and Humanities. While working on the Federal Report about Young Researchers 2017 (Bundesbericht Wissenschaftlicher Nachwuchs 2017) she dealt intensively with scientific careers and supported further the in-house Institute for Innovation and Technology (iit) in the fields of evaluation, education and innovation. In June 2017, Janina Kopp joined the DZHW as a student assistant and dedicated herself to the international comparison of science systems in the project Governance and Performance of Research. She accomplished her empirical final thesis on "The impact of the increased evaluation practices in science on reviewer composition within peer review" (Auswirkungen des Evaluationsanstiegs in der Wissenschaft auf die Gutachterzusammensetzung im Peer-Review Verfahren), before returning to the DZHW as a research associate in July 2018. She has been working in Research Area 2 "Research System and Science dynamics" ever since.
