Qualifizierungsmerkmale von Habilitation und Tenure-Track Juniorprofessur im Vergleich.Luksche, C., & Köker, P. (2025).Qualifizierungsmerkmale von Habilitation und Tenure-Track Juniorprofessur im Vergleich. Zeitschrift für Hochschulentwicklung, 20(2), 33-52. https://doi.org/10.21240/zfhe/20-2/03 Abstract
The German academic system faces the challenge of reconciling traditional and mod-ern qualification paths to a professorship. The historically established habilitation and the newly introduced tenure-track junior professorship play a central role in the academic career system but differ significantly in structure and requirements. This article contrasts the two career paths and highlights the factors that restrict their com-parability. The findings highlight the need for a review and harmonization of the existing regulations. |
Abstract
The study examines the extent to which the Tenure-Track Professorship (TTP) became established in the German academic system by 2022/2023. It analyzes political, legal, and institutional developments as well as its quantitative dissemination. The study was conducted in cooperation between DZHW and IHF. It focuses on the introduction of the TTP, its anchoring in university statutes and state laws, its use compared to other academic career paths, and international comparative perspectives. The aim is to provide a nuanced assessment of the TTP as a structural career instrument. |
