Dr. Bernd Martens, studied sociology, computer science, social history and economics in Hamburg, diploma 1983, doctorate 1990 and habilitation 1998. He was employed in research and teaching at the Universities of Hamburg, Tübingen and Karlsruhe as well as at the University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg. His work focused on occupational sociology, the transformation of companies, the introduction of innovations and science studies. From 2001-12 he worked at the Collaborative Research Centre 580 "Social Developments after the System Change" at the University of Jena in a research project on economic elites in an enlarged Europe and as scientific executive. From 2013-2017 he was working at the Centre for Social Research at the University of Halle in research and evaluation projects. Since 2018 he is an employee of the DZHW, first at the Berlin department in the Nacaps project and since 2020 in Leipzig.
