In the OZUG project, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the body of knowledge on the Grundgesetz (the german constitution), the most important body of standards in the Federal Republic of Germany, is being transferred to open access. Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Eisentraut, a commentary on the Grundgesetz is being planned, written and published, the contents of which are to be made freely available and openly licensed to everyone via the Internet.

Based on the realization of the commentary, an accompanying social science research project led by Prof. Dr. Bernd Kleimann examines from a professional sociological and governance theory perspective which factors in legal scholarship (so far) oppose the open access idea and what conditions for participation in the commentary be viewed as adequate.
