Sectoral and Institutional Nowcast for Bibliometric Impact Indicators (SINBRI)

As citations are accumulated over time, there is a delayed reception of recently-published material into the science system. Using several years of citations makes it possible to identify the reception of emerging publications, but this practice also delays timely reporting. Therefore, in the present project, we establish the technique of nowcasting. Based on Altmetrics data regarding scientific communication on the Internet, we will create an estimation model which uses the correlation between the current but delayed reception indicators and daily Altmetrics data to identify preliminary values of these reception indicators and thus reduce the need for a wide citation window.
