Janine Lange studied sociology at the University of Rostock (Master of Arts). After finishing her studies, she worked at the Research Date Centre of the German Pension Insurance in Berlin (FDZ-RV) in a data matching project ("BASiD - Biographical data of selected social insurance agencies in Germany") in collaboration with the Research Institute of the Federal Employment Agency (IAB). She was granted a doctoral scholarship by the Research Network on Old-Age Provision (Forschungsnetzwerk Alterssicherung, FNA). Her thesis (work in progress) analyses the relationship between reduced earning capacity, pensions and social inequality as a result of individual occupational biographies based on German Pension Insurance data. She was also involved in the implementation of a Virtual Research Environment (VRE) for the interdisciplinary joint research project soeb 3 (third report on socioeconomic development in Germany). From August 2014 to the end of 2015 she worked at the Institute for Research Information and Quality Assurance (iFQ) focusing on research careers. In 2016 Janine Lange joined the Research Area: Research System and Science Dynamics (formerly iFQ) of the German Centre for Higher Education Research and Science Studies (DZHW).
