Barbara Hendriks studied from 2006 – 2013 Social Sciences and Philosophy (BA) at Carl von Ossietzky University in Oldenburg and Social Sciences (MA) at Humboldt-University Berlin. She addressed her master thesis towards the individual progress of external performance requirements in the field of biomedicine. After her studies she became a doctoral researcher at Humboldt-University Berlin. Her dissertation addresses „Clinician Scientists in the context of Translational Research: a critical analysis of professionalism in (bio)medicine”. Additionally to her work within the teaching field of science studies, Barbara Hendriks contributed to different projects at the German Centre for Higher Education Research and Science Studies (DZHW); including “Reflections on the growth of science – Research funding and evaluation in the life sciences in Switzerland” (2017-2018) and the project “Core contens, organizational structures and evaluation procedures of translational medical research” (2014-2017) within the research system and science dynamics department. Since 2017, she is responsible for translational research at DZHW, department 2. Currently she is leading the project “Humanities, Cultural Studies, Social Sciences and Professional Practice in Graduate Education”, which is funded by the Volkswagen Foundation.
